Administrative Assistant III (Hybrid) | 3-Month Contract | Berkeley, CA | $54.17/hour We are seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant III to provide administrative support at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. This role will focus on travel coordination, employee timekeeping administration, or a combination of both, supporting staff, researchers, faculty, and leadership in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and able to quickly learn new processes while managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision. This position offers the opportunity to support world-class research while helping keep critical operations running smoothly. Location: Berkeley, CA (Approximately 2 weeks onsite for training; then hybrid schedule with at least Wednesdays onsite) Dates: July 7, 2026 – October 16, 2026 Pay Rate: $54.17/hour Background Check: Required Key Responsibilities Coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements, conference registrations, and expense reporting Process travel requests and track approvals to ensure timely completion Research and coordinate air, hotel, and rental car reservations Monitor traveler documentation, required approvals, and policy compliance Manage employee and faculty timekeeping activities, including approval tracking and timesheet corrections Send reminders for unreleased and unapproved time and follow up to ensure timely completion Assist employees and supervisors with timesheet updates and corrections Serve as a primary point of contact for payroll, travel, and timekeeping inquiries Maintain accurate records, reports, and tracking systems related to travel and timekeeping activities Assist with special projects and operational needs as assigned Qualifications 4+ years of administrative experience in a technical, academic, research, or similarly complex environment Experience supporting travel coordination, expense reporting, and/or employee timekeeping in a complex administrative environment Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Google Workspace Experience working with databases, financial systems, timekeeping systems, or other enterprise business applications Ability to learn new processes quickly, work independently, and manage multiple priorities Experience working at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory or within the University of California system preferred Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory systems, including TREX/FMS, BAR, and LETS Employment Type: Full Time Salary: $54 Hourly Bonus/Commission: No
